finding god in the first day of 13th grade

I started college so I thought I would log on and document what's new in my life! (Also this is the THIRD YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF MESSY AND KIND WOW YOU GUYS IT'S BEEN THREE YEARS!)

Soooo UPDATE! I committed to my dream school Marymount Manhattan College in New York as a Musical Theatre BFA student (which is insane!) and I'm so so SO excited. Obviously, I'm not there at the moment, I'm deferring for a while because of COVID-19, but I should be there by Fall 2021 at the latest. Since I'm still in California, I've been attending college groups at Mariners, I've recently started working at Wendy's, & I dyed my hair purple! It's been a good time for sure, but in all honesty, it doesn't feel like summer's over because it doesn't really feel like a real school year. I'm taking two classes through my local community colleges, but other than that, I don't have all that much going on.

As for finding God in the midst of it all, it's looked different than before. Much different. I'm struggling a bit to be constantly in the word and fully immersed in his goodness. I think that one of the things I've been learning lately is that church is far more than the building. It's the people. And even then, people are flawed; therefore the church is flawed. But just because the church is flawed, it doesn't mean that Jesus is. Jesus is the definition of perfect, and while our goal as Christians is to learn from him and love like him, we will never even get close to his pure intentions and sheer goodness. This means that we're going to mess up and make mistakes and get hurt and feel pain, but just because awful things happen, it doesn't mean it's from the Lord.

I don't have much wisdom on the subject itself, but it's something that I think is important to remember no matter what you believe in. That's what I've been learning now. Nothin' else too crazy.

I kinda wish I had more to share since this is the THIRD ANNIVERSARY of MESSY & KIND, but I can't think of anything super exciting because we've all been inside for months and most of my friends have left for college anyways. Anywhoo, with all that being said, thank you for subscribing and reading and all that jazz. Happy Birthday Blog!

P.S. I'm working on a new series right now and WOW I am really excited to post it and have others read my words. (ALSO IF YOU WANT TO GUEST WRITE PLEASE REACH OUT! I'd love for you to talk about ANYTHING you're passionate about!)

Much Love,

Del
