banquets 2019

A couple of weeks ago, I had the privilege of attending two banquets for two of my favorite high school programs. Off The Wall and Chamber Choir are two programs I'm so lucky to be apart of, so this post is gonna sorta be a reflection of our closing moments from this year!

Off The Wall banquet was held on the Tuesday of that week, so I'll talk about that one first!

Off The Wall (OTW) holds such a special place in my heart. These kids are so fun to be around and such caring individuals and I'm so grateful for their impact on my life. They're all so talented and to be surrounded by a bunch like them every day is so sweet. I love them.

For starters, I found out on this day that I was going to be a Drama 2 aid for next year's incoming D2 class, and that hit me right in the feels because that class had such an impact on who I am now and to be able to help lead that class next year is just so special to me. On top of that, I won THREE AWARDS at banquet and that was so sweet. So stinkin' unexpected and so sweet. I had the honor of taking home the Bright Spot award for the role Mote in our production of A Midsummer Night's Dream (that's the show where I played a mute fairy, I have a post about the whole show if you wanna find it after reading this post.) which was so special. After that, I received the Best Lead Actress award for my role as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors this year (I also have a post about that show, but you won't have to scroll as far back for this one) and that was so kind. And then the most special of the awards was I won one of 2 Overall Achievement awards for the whole entire year. (The other one went to my buddy Luke so WOOP WOOP!) That award had me so shocked because I didn't even know I was even nominated for that. It was crazy. No clue who voted for that one, but like- thank you. x1000. To come home and show my momma that award was so special and I'm so honored to have won that award. CRAZY ish.

That night overall though was so wonderful because we had a BOMB dinner at El Adobe in San Juan Capistrano in SoCal and their banquet hall is so beautiful so to have our banquet held there was amazing. Additionally, every single photo I took that night turned out beautifully, so I have no complaints. And I got to spend another night gettin' fancy with my pals. I love these folks immensely. So sick.

Next! That Saturday was the Vocal Department banquet and that was just a grand 'ole time.

I had a great time with BOTH of my parents (WOOP WOOP KELLEY & ERIK) and one of my best friends, Hannah & her family. We brought our own food to the banquet hall (Thanks to The Hat for providing us with quality sandwiches & filling fries to keep us alive during that long banquet!) and we had a great time. Honestly. I got to laugh so hard with my Gaylords (iykyk) and the HYPE squad (also iykyk) and I'm so excited for next year.

I went into this banquet seriously expecting not to win anything, but not only was I blessed with a position on council again, but I get to be the section leader for the Chamber Sopranos, aaaaand I won BEST JUNIOR. OUT OF THE WHOLE DEPARTMENT. So to whoever voted for me, WOW THANK YOU. I did NOT see that one coming and I was so shocked. So thank you endlessly. I'm still in shock.

With all that said though, banquet week was hectic and crazy, but worth every second for these wacky people. These folks are all so talented & I can't wait to see what next year has in store for us.

Much Love,

Del
