AH! So my next few posts are gonna center around some theatre-esque content, but then I'll be back to life updates and all that cool & jazzy stuff for y'all. Now, about a month ago, I SKIPPED PROM (I know, I know, super crazy) and instead I went to the CAPPIES AWARDS in the SAME LOCATION the next dayyyy!
So let's chat about that!
The night of prom, I'd invited my childhood pal (girl scouts and on hehe) Anna over and we hung out and she spent the night. It was a blast because we both ditched prom and instead we had the opportunity to catch up, do face masks, and bake cookies together. (By that, I mean we burnt two batches of cookies and then ate all the rest of the raw cookie dough. Salmonella forever.)
The next day, we went to her house that morning and she did my hair and makeup and I looked STUNNING. Like- I've never been more impressed. I felt so beautiful, so shoutout and thank you to my homegirl.
From there, we drove on over to The Grove in Anaheim and we went into the venue to rehearse with our cast. Super sick actually. We had such a good time. And then we grabbed dinner and headed back for the actual awards ceremony.
SOOOOO we were nominated 17? 18? (somewhere around there) times and we won SIX AWARDS !!!! WOOOOO!!! It was so rad because my pal Jordan is now the funniest kid in Orange County after winning the best comedic actor in both a play and a musical. Additionally, my friend TJ won best male vocalist, my pals in Little Shop won for best set and best stage crew, and the award we were most proud of (obviously) was BEST PROPS because we all worked SO DANG HARD on those Audrey Two's.
The awards themselves were super awesome, but let's be real. The best part about nights like these aren't the awards, it's not performing, it's getting to reconnect and celebrate with some of my favorite theatre nerds. I got to catch up with some friends I hadn't seen in so long and I got to just sing and celebrate and dress up with some really cool humans in this fabulous community. It was honestly so wonderful and I just wanted to post this recap to sorta reflect on that night and all that jazz.
Next post is gonna be about my BANQUETS from a few weeks ago too, so look forward to that!
