I CLOSED A FRIGGIN’ AWESOME SHOW A FEW WEEKS AGO AND NOW IMMA TALK ABOUT IT.
Trabuco Hills recently wrapped up our production of “Little Shop of Horrors” and I’m so proud of us. I love us. I love Off The Wall. I love Trabuco. Gosh- it’s moments like these that make me so glad I transferred and so proud to be a Mustang.
I feel so honored to say that I got cast as Audrey in Little Shop, despite my awful audition lol. I mean- I trust our team of directors very much, but I didn’t see this one coming. At all. And this role was a big boy challenge for me.
I’m gonna be really honest, I wish I could play this role again in the future and bring something new to the table. I love Audrey very much, but this role was very hard to pull off, especially considering the emotional recall I had to attempt to pull off for this part. Audrey’s a very vulnerable character, and to try to relate to her, I faced a number of difficult emotional situations. I’m very grateful though for our directors, specifically our student director, Bryson, for pushing me out of my comfort zone. I’ve learned a lot about acting and even more about myself through this show and I’m very grateful for the opportunities that this show brought me. To our stage manager Taylor, thank you for teaching me about all that you do and thank you for showing me so much love. The day you took me out for lunch left such an impact on me, and I’m so grateful for our friendship. To the PA’s I love you all and I’m so grateful for you guys for makin’ this show happen. Thank you Bella for being a kickbutt friend and thank you Josie for keeping me sane and put together, even when I feel like I’m falling apart.
To the techs, thank you for all that you do. Thank you for making the BEAUTIFUL Audrey Two’s and thank you for allowing me to help paint things here and there or thank you Jackie for teaching me about our lighting system, even though our scrollers are broken & ancient. Y’all are so talented and you don’t get enough credit for all that you do. Mia, Angie, & Natalie, thank you for constantly cheering me on from behind the scenes. Sophia, Hannah, & Abbie, thank you for making sure I didn’t ever actually die during my death scene. Eric, thank you for being my literal mic SAVIOR. You’re actually the second coming of Christ. Like- what the heck. You’re perfect. Joliya, you’re perfect too oh my word! You’re a literal angel. You worked so hard every night to make sure I was comfortable in my costumes and my mic. You helped me backstage more than anyone else and I can honestly say I wouldn’t have even been a mediocre Audrey without you.
To the cast, OH MY GOSH. Y’all are the sweetest. I can’t even. Ensemble, I love working with you guys. You’re so funny and you make the boldest character decisions and I’m your number one fan. All of you guys. Specifically to the understudy cast, each of you brought something unique to your roles and I’m so proud of how you played those characters. You guys are so talented and I can’t wait to work with you all again next year. (Shoutout to Elle for being the most positive person in this cast & Alaina for being my baby sister/daughter love child. I love you both so much. OH! & Lil’ Mama. You a real homie.) To the trio, all four of you hehehe, you guys are so talented and Melody too, gosh, you guys tied this show together. Thank you. (& Thank you Jaclyne for a killer black eye!) To the plants, Ethan, thank you for guiding me where I need to go in the puppet and for still being nice to me when I’d get eaten the wrong way. TJ, thank you for everything oh gosh. Thank you for working on my accent with me. Thank you for making me laugh on my bad days. Thank you for being so encouraging to me backstage and always cheering me on in between my scenes. I really am gonna miss ya. To Michael, there’s no one else in the cast I would trust to fake slap me every night. Also, no one else I’d rather show up late to MACY’s rehearsals with. You’re my fav to scream show tunes with and get lost on the freeway. You’re awesome. And I love ya. To Jordan, OH MY GOSH IMMA MISS YOU. You are one of the sweetest and most caring people in this cast. You are so nice to literally everyone no matter how your day’s been going. I don’t know how you do that, and I admire you for it. You’re such a strong soul and working with you is always a pleasure. Thank you for making silly jokes about our lines with me and thank you for improving so much at the CAPPIES show that I almost broke twice. I love you so much. To Luke, thanks so much for being one of my best friends that I’ve made through this production. You’re friggin’ awesome. I mean that. Thank you for driving me home & listening to Dear Evan Hansen with me. Can’t wait to see you be the next Andrew Barth Feldman.
Lemme wrap up this post by saying I’ve got some more stuff coming soon (MACY’s & CAPPIES!) and those posts are gonna kick majorrrr booootyyyy.
Much Love,
Del
