I wanted to process this weekend in its entirety before I posted, so here I am posting about it almost a month later. Youth Culture Weekend was so special. Such a rad experience. And I've gotta give a massive shoutout to Mariners HSM and the staff, leaders, and volunteers we had at YCW. Next, shoutout to my parents for opening their home during a hecka busy weekend and letting me bring a ton of new friends over to spend the night and/or eat breakfast. Lastly, a fat shoutout to my friends who were at YCW. Thanks for coming with me and putting your trust in a brand new conference to come and praise and learn about the Lord together. God moved mountains.
On Friday night, I had a whole handful of students from my school come to YCW. It was wild. I honestly didn't expect anyone to want to come, but for six kids from my school (which is 30 minutes away from Mariners) to come and actually enjoy their time was so stinkin' cool. & I can't take credit for any of it. God spoke through the messages and through the worship, both from our team and Mosaic's.
(In regards to the photo above, I had the privilege of meeting Mariah and Brooke and I got to ask them about their songwriting process as a church and as a team. Soooo shoutout to our tech team and crew for not being pissed that I walked back there and thanks Brooke and Mariah for letting me chat with ya. Really freaking awesome.)
Saturday morning, after eating a group breakfast at my house, the majority of us got back up and were ready for day two of YCW. The sessions that morning were phenomenal and worship was beautiful and I was so awestruck by God and what he was doing that day at the conference. There were so many special moments that were shared between my friends and I and I'm so grateful that I got to share this weekend in the presence of God with them.
After YCW of course, we were all pretty exhausted, so I felt like I had to include this photo to show some sleepy faces after all of the excitement that YCW brought. (hehe sorry issy!)
So with all of that said, I understand that this post's recap. is slightly too generic because I didn't go into depth about the weekend, but that's honestly because it isn't something I could simply tell you in words. There's really no explanation. It's something that you'd have to experience.
Youth Culture. Guys. It's happening. It's here. There is something new.
