So if you weren't around to hear me scream and rave about this show, you missed out. But do not fear, my Messy & Kind blog recap is here!
"Wicked Is As Wicked Does"is a children's theater show that my drama class performed in December. It went wonderfully, thanks for asking, and this post is dedicated to the show and my incredibly talented cast.
If you are in my drama class and you were there for the final circle, this here is the extended version. If you missed final circle, well here ya go!
When I transferred to THHS, I signed up for choir and auditioned for dance, but I didn’t have enough room in my schedule to take drama. About a month later, after dropping Spanish, Finn convinced me to join this class. My first day in this class was terrifying. I’ve taken drama classes before so it wasn’t like I was new to it all, but I was so new to being the new kid. When y’all found out where I transferred from I got a couple of condescending glances and dirty looks from my classmates who thought I was going to be “that kid.” Shortly thereafter, when I got casted as Snow White, I got so anxious. I was the kid who didn’t take drama one, wasn’t in the school musical, heck I didn’t even go to Trabuco last year, and I got a part that so many talented girls in our class had auditioned for. I felt awful. But it was through this show that I started making friends.
Dwarves:
Y’all were so funny. I was so proud of your improving skills and the characters you all developed. It was adorable and I was such a fan. I can’t wait to get to know you all better throughout the course of this year because y’all are so fun!
Princes:
A huge thank you to each of you for bringing something new to the table. The three of you are super hilarious and I really enjoyed your energy onstage and offstage.
Princesses:
You three are the sweetest humans. Hailey, thanks for helping me look like a princess. From doing my lashes every day to letting me use your Kylie lipstick to making sure that my quick changes went smoothly, you really took a lot of stress of of my plate. I was so thankful that you were my Cinderella. Kam, I didn’t know you last year obviously, but in the few months that I’ve been here, I’ve watched you grow so much. I’m so proud of the amazing job you did in this show and I can’t wait to perform with you in many more shows. Payton, you’re so silly and you were such a joy to be with backstage. You always had something to say and I loved that. I loved it when we’d get backstage to do Hailey’s costume change and you would encourage everyone. You’re so kind and you have such great energy onstage which made performing with you such a blast.
Wickeds and Magic Mirror:
The five of you are so lovely and so hilarious and I loved beginning to develop friendships with you. Julia, you’re so caring and wonderful and I know this sounds weird, but being around you instantly makes me calmer so I appreciate your presence. Grace, we bonded over you singing Shrek songs and me laughing my butt off. Kalia, you’re hilarious and so thoughtful and I seriously cannot have a conversation with you without laughing. Jaclyne, I really feel like I got to know you a lot during the course of this production and I’m super thankful for that! Luke, you’re hilarious and performing with you was so fun because you always had good ideas and you brought something different to rehearsal every time.
Prince Intolerable:
I keep laughing every time I rewrite this section, so I might as well cut to the chase. I’m so thankful that you were my prince, working with you was such a good time. I remember auditioning with you, and I just had so much fun, so when we got cast together, I was so stoked. I apologize for the number of times I got lipstick on your face, but I think you made up for that with the number of times you stepped on my dress or pulled the veil off my head. I feel like I say this phrase a lot, but thank you for “matching my crazy,” this show would not have been as fun as it was if it weren’t for you.
TA’s and Finn: I know that whatever I say won’t be able to sum up my feelings of gratitude for you guys, but thank you so much for making everything possible. Y’all worked your tails off and I’m just so grateful.
Last but not least, a giant thank you to everyone who made it out to watch my cast perform. Seeing all of your faces and hearing you all cheer was so special and I'm so grateful.
With that all said, cheers to many more shows! I can’t wait for the next one!
Much Love,
Delaney Miller
