intern appreciation

my intern family

Yay! My first series is over! I hope you enjoyed reading my posts as much as I enjoyed writing them. Now we're back to my bi-weekly posts, so Happy Friday(!) and let's get started!

Meet my intern friends. Alex, Adam, Jack, and Lindsay. I mentioned in my first post that I had gotten this amazing opportunity to intern at Mariners Irvine JHM, but I realized I'd never really addressed it in further detail after that. So this post is all about my intern crew.

I'm so proud of us. We all worked our butts off this summer. I'm so blessed to have been able to serve alongside each of you this year. Whether it was the day we went as a whole intern team and we served at Lighthouse Community Center or Shocking Fridays or VBS afterparties, being able to serve with y'all was a highlight of the summer.

I loved being able to become friends with all of you too. I loved the day that Adam and Alex and I turned the Intern Lounge into a movie theater. I loved the day that Madison, Lindsay, Jack, and I got bagels before our team meeting. I loved decorating for Christmas (in July) with y'all. I loved the day where we had that visual faith meeting. I loved the day where we learned how to pray for others in that development class with Collin Cumbee. I loved the night where we grabbed In & Out after a Shocking Friday. I loved the night that Jack used Lindsay and I as a shield when the bear took our marshmallows at camp. I loved that Alex and I would compare our worship leader aesthetic every weekend. I loved going to the store to pick up 18 bags of ice with Brandon and Jack. I loved counting how many times Alex would make this obnoxious clicking noise without even thinking about it. As much as I hate salad dressing now, I love how much our team bonded after the Initiator ruined our lives. I loved the hours Lindsay and I had spent trying to hang up the polaroids. I love burning my eyeballs out when Justin would make me grill with him. I loved getting to laugh and joke with these weirdos. I loved getting to share moments with y'all this summer. Thanks for being such wonderful friends and family to me.

I also just wanted to share about how awesome JHM camp was. Sixth grade kicked butt and totally won the challenge. We had to wake up at 5 in the morning to wake up children for boot camp. I woke up every morning that week to screaming and a megaphone singing "OLE OLE OLE OLE" and I honestly wouldn't trade that for the world. I wish I woke up to that every morning now. From El Mex to the power outage, camp was one of the most tiring experiences of my life, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Hype crew, Melanie and Smitty Burch, posting online and taking photos, worshiping with the coolest band ever, etc. It was throughout all of these things that I was shown how truly blessed I am.

The rest of this post just contains some cool photos of my intern frands and the memories we made this summer. I don't really know what else to say now except for I hope your week's been alright!

Much Love,

Delaney Miller
